Low iron, vitamin D, zinc and B12 are the deficiencies most often linked to shedding, and correcting them can stop hair loss that has no genetic cause. Supplements only help where there is a real deficiency; too much vitamin A or selenium can cause shedding itself.
There is no strong evidence that creatine causes hair loss. A single small study found it raised DHT, which can accelerate loss in men already genetically predisposed, but that result has not been replicated and creatine does not create a sensitivity that was not already there.
